LITTLE TOUCH OF HEAVEN
It’s been wedding central in our lives. On October 25th, our friends Matt and Reyna were married and this past weekend November 8, John and Thuy were married. November 15, Rosanna and Mike are getting married.
Weddings are so lovely. They are wonderful reminders of who we are and what we are called to in the vocation of marriage. We witness the two become one in the eyes of God and our Church community–it’s a little touch of heaven. We see a beautiful blending of families and traditions. I must comment on John and Thuy’s wedding in particular since that was the most recent and she’s Vietnamese and he’s American. The reception stood out in my mind as the most unique I’ve ever experienced. Their families, from different cultures with different languages, were united by the marriage of John and Thuy. One of the highlights was the Tea Ceremony as part of the reception (although I believe it is traditionally the morning of the wedding). John and Thuy changed from their wedding attire to the traditional Asian dress and served their parents and grandparents who were all seated at one table. They also had other highlights that stood out…but you’d be reading for days if I went into them all.
Their wedding reminded me that in the face of differences in families, whether they be cultural or personal, the graces and blessings poured upon the couple through the Sacrament of Matrimony far exceed any of that.
BABY GABRIEL AND FAMILY
After the wedding we drove over to Plano to stay with the Shearer family. We got to see our little Godson, Gabriel. He’s just so precious… and SOOO cute! He’s starting to mimick facial expressions. His parents are teaching him well.
We also want to wish his mommy, Elizabeth Ann, a very happy birthday filled with many blessings!
