StrongDad enters Eternal Rest

Those of you who are fans of Homestar Runner may have noticed the lack in recent updates to the site. It wasn’t until today that I learned that the father of the Brothers Chap – Donald Chapman – had passed away last April… and he’s Catholic. Eternal rest grant unto Donald oh Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him.

Molly Homemaker strikes again!

Baby food…yes, baby food.  The first time around with Therese, I was pretty lazy and buying jars upon jars was REALLY easy.  Although friends told me that making your own baby food was pretty simple, it required research and time.

Alas, I have turned a new leaf.  Fulton started solids a couple of weeks ago.  I had a jar of carrots and thought I’d try it out on him. Well, my boy is a boy! He gobbled it right up.  Seeing financial doom (not really) if the trend continues, I decided to make my own baby food and found a great resource.   In fact it’s as easy as everyone said it would be–a little time consuming.  There’s a certain satisfaction in making the food myself and knowing EXACTLY what my little guy is eating.

Colorado Assistant Minority Leader puts the smack down on Planned Parenthood

What an amazing story.

Father’s Day Blessing

Couldn’t have asked for a better day. A Eucharistic procession to celebrate Corpus Christi, good meals from the Mrs., and hours of fun with the kids including a trip to the local pool.

Father's Day with the Kids

Here I am sporting my Father’s Day gift from the kids: a coffee mug with their photo. Perfect.

Father's Day Gift

Yup, couldn’t have asked for a better day… well maybe if Gordon had moved up in the standings but there’s still time. :)

Feast of Corpus Christi

Today is the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ.  Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in east Austin had a Eucharistic procession after one of their Masses this morning to St. Mary’s Cathedral downtown.

It was SO AWESOME!  The priest led us with Blessed Sacrament down the streets of east Austin about a mile to the cathedral.  It was my first time ever to participate in a Eucharistic procession.  Awesome doesn’t even begin to describe it!  What a way to evangelize!  Before we left the church, we prayed for the church, all the families present, our city and the streets upon which we walk, and the those who would see us.

Adam remarked that this is how the disciples must have felt just picking up and following Jesus through the streets of where ever he went.  There was a police escort; traffic stopped on the frontage of Interstate-35.  I wonder if crowds that followed Jesus stopped the locals in their day and what they thought of Him and His disciples.

God Bless the young adult group from Our Lady of Guadalupe who organized this!  That’s what young adults groups should do!

Walk for Life

A big huge thank you to all of you who sponsored Therese in the Texas Alliance Walk for Life!  We raised over $2,800!!  Therese won the “Top Youth Award” for the Georgetown walk and our church won the most pledges for the walk as well.

God blessed the earth yesterday with rain before the walk and just enough clear weather for the walk before the sun warmed us up too much.  We had a great time and saw a few friends and made a few new ones.

If you didn’t get a chance to make a pledge, you can still sponsor a walker until June 30, at Texas Alliance for Life.

Holy Mary Mother of God…

Tonight we experienced the one thing that can make up for a less than holy experience at Adoration with the kids.

Adam and I were here at the computer working on something when I heard Therese behind us at the kneeler.  I motioned to Adam to listen to Therese as she said, “Father, Son, Holy Spirit. (*she picks up the crucifix*) Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, amen.”
