On the Eleventh Day of Christmas…

…we celebrate the feast of the first native born American saint, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.  She was a wife, mother, convert, teacher, foundress of a girls’ school and nun–all in 46 short years no less.  St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us!

If you’re still looking for something fun to do to wrap up the Christmas season, don’t forget that Epiphany right around the corner.  Traditionally celebrated on January 6, or the 12th night, we celebrate Christ’s manifestation to the wise men.  (I’ll write more on that later…)  I found this great website–CatholicCulture.com.  I convinced Adam that we should have a little 12th night party for the family on Saturday.  I’m going to make a small cake (that won’t add to much to our thighs or bellies) with a baby Jesus in it.  We’ll let Therese decorate it with candies and other yummies.  Whoever gets the piece with baby Jesus gets to be by king/queen on Sunday!  I have big dreams of no cooking, dishes, or diapers on Sunday.  Adam on the other hand seemed more concerned about losing and being stuck with cooking and dishes.

We’ll keep you posted!

On the Tenth Day of Christmas…

…we celebrate the memorial of the Holy Name of Jesus…”at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, of those in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:10).

Divine Praises

Blessed be God.
Blessed be His Holy Name.
Blessed be Jesus Christ, true God and true man.
Blessed be the name of Jesus.
Blessed be His Most Sacred Heart.
Blessed be His Most Precious Blood.
Blessed be Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Altar.
Blessed be the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete.
Blessed be the great Mother of God, Mary most holy.
Blessed be her holy and Immaculate Conception.
Blessed be her glorious Assumption.
Blessed be the name of Mary, Virgin and Mother.
Blessed be Saint Joseph, her most chaste spouse.
Blessed be God in His angels and in His Saints.

May the heart of Jesus, in the Most Blessed Sacrament, be praised, adored, and loved with grateful affection, at every moment, in all the tabernacles of the world, even to the end of time. Amen.

On the Nineth day of Christmas…

…Fulton is running!  He took a few steps yesterday at Adam’s coaxing, but he really took off today with very little nagging on our part.  We’ll see if we can send you some footage soon.

So I’m not usually open to trying those “as-seen-on-tv” products.  My brother had these vacuum SpaceBags when we went to my parents’ house for Christmas.  I was able to see them in action and when I got back to Austin I bought some to store the kids’ clothes. No joke, these bags are incredible at saving space!  So those of you with kid clothes (waiting for the next kid that comes along) that is packed away in bulky bins that eat away most of your closet space, you might consider these.  They are a little pricey at $40 for 12 bags, but that’s less than those bins and can reduce up to a third of the space!  They are airtight and waterproof which is another plus.

On the Eighth Day of Christmas…

…We celebrate the feast of Mary, Mother of God.

Prayer of Entrusting the Church to Mary, Mother of God by Pope John Paul II

O Mother of all peoples; you know all their sufferings and their hopes.  You maternally feel all their struggles between good and evil, between the light and the darkness which shake the world.  Receive our cry, directed in the Holy spirit straight to your Heart and, with the love of the Mother and Handmaid of the Lord, embrace the individuals and the peoples which most look for this embrace, together with the individuals and peoples to whose trust you attend in a particular way.  Take the entire human family under your maternal protection. With outflows of affection, O Mother, we entrust it to you.  May the time of peace and liberty approach for all, the time of truth and justice, and hope.  Amen.
