Gifts and Talents
You know how during stewardship homilies at church Father tells you to discern what gifts and talents you can offer outside of tithing money. I always sit in the pew wondering…”hmmm…what gifts and talents do I have? I don’t think they have much use for me solving math equations…”
Well, after 7 years of studying mathematics in undergraduate and graduate school, and two degrees, I figured out what my talent is…Fixing videos for the parish library. (The parish librarian stumbled upon my hidden gift when I had to repair a movie Therese accidentally dropped and broke.)
Yup, a skill I learned at the age of 13 watching my dad repair movies for his video store finally paid off. I bet my sister would get a good chuckle out of that! I sure did as I sat at the kitchen table yesterday fixing some movies that the librarian gave me to repair.

Add that to another of your many talents. You are also good at making yummy granola and amazing chicken BBQ pizza. You have always had a flare for being creative and ingenious. Remember my “angel” cake you made me for my birthday when we were in college? You have beautiful handwriting. I’ve always been a little envious of that.
“Economy” is a word I’m sure you invented. You’ve made it a science in your home! How do you do that?!?!
You have a talent for getting straight to the point. No beating around the bush for you! You have a gift for being very devoted to your family and friends — that is a very endearing trait. You also make the cutest babies! You are a super great prayer partner. You’ve been one of my favorite ones for almost 10 years now too! Looking forward to getting some math tutoring from you when my kids are older. Numbers and I don’t mesh too well.
I second all those remarks, plus you are a terrific mother, wife and daughter-in-law!! (Grandpa/Dad says to tell you the same thing!)
Ditto! I am soooo proud of you! and love you very much!
Rock on, Sharon!
