Why is Mark Cuban interested in the Cubs?
So why is Mark Cuban interested in owning the Chicago Cubs? In the first few minutes of this interview, he explains that one motivator is the linking of an iconic brand such as the Cubs with digital media in innovative new ways. Regarding his rags to riches experience as owner of the the Dallas Mavericks he says:
There is a direct correlation between how innovative you are in terms of how you market and how you approach your consumers and your fans versus how well you perform on the court, or in our case on the field.
Things could really get interesting in the next few years for the Cubbies should Mark get the nod.

But he’s not going to be the next owner, no matter how cool I think it would be. Reinsdorf (White Sox) hates him and Bud Selig has friends who are Marks’ competition. But it’s also looking like we won’t even be sold before spring training, so this could drag on and on and on … In the meantime, next year is 100 years since the last time we won the World Series. Woo hoo!
