An Early Gift

I told myself the best gift I could get for my birthday this month was a potty trained 2 year old.   And my little Fulton came through!

In two weeks, he was by leaps and bounds easier to potty train than Therese.  It could be the Montessori  techniques I used, or the extra patience that our blessed Lord granted me, or his easy going nature, or the  extra family rosaries we offered for this.  Whatever it was…Thank you, Jesus!

I think I actually enjoyed potty training during this round.  God gave me a little grace to look at the whole situation as time to spend one-on-one with our little guy.  I often wonder how parents with multiple children get to spend time individually with each child.  Well, now I know one way. I think it did Fulton a lot of good not to have big sister around during this time, and to enjoy mom or dad reading to just him.  I think it did me some good too.

  1. Congrats! Happy early birthday! Now, that only counts as gifts from your family, right? We’re not off the hook… :-)

Please share the Montessori techniques. Sammie used the potty for the first time the other day, so we might be getting closer to this than I thought. Thanks!
