Gianna Update

Wednesday we had Gianna’s 9 month well check. She’s doing great! She gained 5 lbs in the last 3 months to bring her up to 17 lbs 6 oz–right on the 25th percentile–this is “normal” for our kids! Adam and I were starting to think she was getting a little chunky! She’s right on track though.  I’m amazed at how quickly babies gain weight with formula.

About a month ago she started army crawling to get places.  Now she’s darting everywhere in a full crawl and pulling up to see what’s on tables and chairs and everything in between.  She’s clapping and imitating our sounds. She’s opening our kitchen cabinets and pulling EVERYTHING out.  She has fully reached what I call the puppy stage–chewing on shoes, playing with every particle on the floor, and going for Therese’s and Fulton’s scraps under the table.   I had almost forgotten how cute they are at this age.   We see her dimples all the time because she’s always smiling.  Therese is strong enough to carry her now from place to place.  However Gianna is usually holding on for dear life when she does!  Fulton makes every attempt to play with his baby sister and she does adores him–must be his huge puppy dog eyes.  And it looks like she’ll outgrow the baby food before Adam.

“Don’t you have enough to do?”

That was the question that a random woman asked at Lowes earlier this week as I was walking with the kids to check out. They were, of course, loaded up with a bunch of painting supplies I needed to finish up this week’s home improvement project. I can’t say that I’m offended or disagree…she’s probably right…but I felt a need to use my creative juices!

In anticipation for Gianna’s move upstairs to her new sleeping quarters with Therese, and Adam’s pending jaw surgery next month, I figured I’d better get on the move. Here is the girls’ re-painted room. It used to be blue (painted by the previous owner–sorry no before picture). Now…it’s Pixie Dust Pink and Hundred Acre Wood Green with Enchanted Ride flowers and Flutterby Butterfly butterflies!

I had to make the stencils by hand. It was much easier than I thought. Here’s a close up.

I wish I could say this was an original idea, but alas it is not. I modified this to fit our budget, my beloved’s lack of interest in helping, and my desire to finish this in a reasonable amount of time. I started Sunday afternoon and finished this afternoon–mostly finished, I just need a few touch ups here and there. Adam was very supportive, though, and I must say the best thing he did was not say a word as he was helping me clean up a paint spill on Therese’s bed. He’s the best!

Another Baby Gretencord

We’re happy to announce that we’re going to be an uncle and aunt for the first time on the Gretencord side! Adam’s brother Marc and his wife Misty are expecting their first mini M&M*! And the best part–mini M&M is going to be a Texan! They will be stationed in Abilene starting in the fall and will be expecting at the end of December! Congratulations guys!

Grandpa G might actually get that red headed grandbaby he’s always asking us about!

*Marc & Misty => M&M => mini M&M. :)

Homeless bags

How do you say no when your 4 year old asks to make homeless bags?

Walk 2008

We went on our 4th Walk for Life this past Saturday to help raise money and support the Texas Alliance for Life.  We managed to raise around $1100 this year.  Thanks to all those who supported us with your pledge.

This year’s Austin area Walk2008 was held at the Quarries.  It was a great change from where is was previously held at Pease Park downtown.  There was plenty for the kids to do before the actual walk began.

Enjoying the scenery by the lake…

Did he read the books?  He’s supposed to be in “Master’s Wood” not our back yard!
