Today we will begin our novena and pray for those who are expecting babies (especially Roxy, Denae, Kelly, and Misty –my sister-in-law) and those who still await God’s gift of parenthood.
Novena to St. Gerard
Most Blessed Trinity, I, Your child, thank You for all the gifts and privileges which You granted to St. Gerard, especially for those virtues with which You adorned him on earth and the glory which You now impart to him in heaven. Accomplish Your work, Oh Lord, so that Your kingdom may come about on earth. Through his merits, in union with those of Jesus and Mary, grant me the grace for which I ask…. (Mention your request)
And you, my powerful intercessor, St. Gerard, always so ready to help those who have recourse to you, pray for me. Come before the throne of Divine Mercy and do not leave without being heard. To you I confide this important and urgent affair…. Graciously take my cause in hand and do not let me end this novena without having experienced in some way the effects of your intercession. Amen.
Father Rick Miller was received into the hands of our Lord this evening. Our love goes with him.

Saints of God, come to his aid!
Come to meet him, angels of the Lord!
Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.
Amen.
We highly recommend the Elgin Christmas Tree Farm Pumpkin Festival. You can just see all the fun we had this year! We went last year, but forgot our camera. And I don’t remember it being so enjoyable…maybe because this year I didn’t have a newborn and I have two-thirds of the kids potty trained…that really makes a big difference for me.
All of us on the hay ride.
What a cutie!
Fulton on the hay tractor.
Muffin with the scarecrows (and a pretzel in her mouth).
Therese and the great pumpkin patch…
and on the antique tractor.
Before we consider buying a new play scape, maybe we’ll just get some bales of hay instead. Just look at Fulton’s face!
Fulton driving the boat. Have you noticed a trend with Fulton and large vehicles?
Just the girls.
The princess and the pony.

This week’s Five in a Row book was, How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman.
Of course you know what that meant!
This was my first attempt at making my own pie crust AND using my Pi pie pan that Mom and Dad Gretencord gave me for my birthday. It didn’t come out too bad. Although a part of me was better off not knowing how much butter is in pie crust!
In particular, please pray for Fr. Rick Miller. He is an associate pastor at St. Boniface parish in Lafayette, Indiana. Fr. Miller is suffering from cancer.
Dear Jesus, Divine Physican and Healer of the sick, we turn to You in this time of illness of our sick priests. O Dearest Comforter of the troubled, alleviate their worry and sorrow with your gentle love, and grant our priests the grace and stength to accept this burden. Dear God, we place all their worries in Your hands. We place our sick priests under Your care and humbly ask that You restore Your servant to health again. Above all, grant us the grace to acknowledge Your will and know that whatever You do, You do for the love us. Amen.
Jesus we trust in you.
YouTube yanked Eduardo Verastegui’s “Dura Realidad” (Hard Truth) video about Obama’s record on abortion. At least they left the edited version.
Is tonight. Did you go out in your neighborhood and meet the neighbors, see the insides of large law enforcement vehicles, and pick up all kinds of goodies (like those blinking lights to attach to your bike or walking gear when you’re out in the dark)? Of course the kids stocked up on a few pieces of candy too.
It’s our annual visit to see a helicopter…
…fire truck….
more fire truck…
and inside of the constable’s car–complete with shotgun–except my kids don’t really know what that is so they didn’t ask about it too much.

Here’s our little feathered friend and the mess he made of our siding. It’s worse than what is pictured. But we haven’t seen him in about a week. It looks like a Nuttall Woodpecker.
