New Roof

Well, I found out yesterday that our house is going to be added to the over $160 million in damage from the recent hail storm. Although my first inclination was not to call a roofing company or our home insurance, the roofer signs kept popping up ALL OVER the neighborhood and my father-in-law encouraged me to call. So I made the calls a week after the storm.

Bad news: The roof is totaled.

Good news: We only have to pay the deductible for a new one.

I suppose this storm was God’s way of sending a stimulus package to the roofing companies, suppliers, and Mexican laborers. I still think I like God’s stimulus packages better.

Week 15 update

Baby G is 15 weeks old as of yesterday. I have my next appointment at the birthing center next Monday. Things are going so far so good.

Three weeks ago I began weening to a lower dosage of the oral progesterone that I was taking. And I have been off for a week to see if my body can do its job correctly. I had a blood draw yesterday and my progesterone was REALLY high. Normal would be around 45 and mine was up to 57. My friend, Misty, mailed me a vitamin dosage her local OB had suggested to correct hormone imbalances and I started taking better vitamins that were very close to those recommended doses. There two weeks that I didn’t keep up with them because I wanted to finish the samples my doc gave me; my progesterone was lower but still average even with the supplemental progesterone pill. Then I went back to my “regular” vitamin combo and things are looking really good on that front. So thanks be to God, I don’t have to worry about that anymore. But I do have a new appreciation for taking quality vitamins–thanks Misty!!

They’re off!

There is a local priest missing from his home in Nuevo Laredo. Fr. Jesse Euresti from Cristo Rey was found missing and the house in a state that officials think he may have been murdered.

Please keep him and his family and parish in your prayers.

Spring Break Pics

So, these are totally late but better late than never, right?

Adam’s youngest sister, Mary, came down to Austin from Indiana for her spring break this year. It was so fun to have her here and the kids of course love any extra person they can play tickle monster with! Since it was her spring break, we wanted to take her somewhere at least. She requested San Antonio as she is totally in love with the Riverwalk and wants to move there sometime after she graduates from Purdue. So we took her there and we went to Marbel Falls to Sweet Berry Farm for our annual berry picking.

The troops sporting their berries. And Fulton and Gianna are wearing some nice shade hats their other aunt, Diana, gave them just for our treks to the berry farm.

Adam took the day off for our trip to SA.

The kids with the Komodo Dragon statue.

Muffin really loved the monkeys. There was one that was doing all kinds of stunts that we watched while the other kids were at the Butterfly exhibit with Dad and Aunt Mary.

My FAVORITE picture!

That’s my sister Diana on the right. She’s worked at the SA Zoo for over 20 years (since she was in college). She’s awesome! Not only does she get us in for free under her membership, but on the crazy day during spring break, she gets us through the EXPRESS entrance to avoid the mile long line outside and then gives us our own private tour of the zoo! Thanks Di!

Then we finally made it to the Riverwalk…couldn’t pass up a photo op with St. Anthony!

The day was perfect for an ice cream treat courtesy of Tia Maria–and thankfully is was St. Patrick’s day and the kids got to enjoy it! (Since they are Irish, we lift all their Lenten fasts on that day!)
