One thing I don’t like about myself is that I allow things to pile up…literally. If I’m not careful, I can have 2 or 3 piles of mail. You know, the bills and other things I need to attend to but I don’t attend to because I’m too busy sorting through a mountain of mostly junk mail. Where ever I opened the mail or even what “state” they are in determines where that particular pile is. For that reason I hardly check the mail. I’ll get to it three times a month if the mail man is lucky but usually just twice–when I know bills are in there and I think the mail man just can stuff anymore junk into our box.
Then there are the mountains of Therese’s pictures. I just don’t know what to do with them at this point. The trash seems a likely spot, but then I feel bad especially when she sees them there and says, “Mom, when you throw away my pictures you are being disrespectful.” (Yes, I got that once.) So as a consequence, I have two mountains of pictures, one for each level of our home.
Then come the books. I like to read but I just don’t get to the books fast enough. Adam is an avid read and well, you’ve seen the Amazon side bar. Those are his books. So today, in an effort to do some “spring cleaning,” I tried to clear the 4 stacks of books in the house that were 4 to 12 books deep. *sigh* Most of them are my books and Therese’s school books. And where to put them and when to get to them? We’re out of shelf space. Some of our shelves are two layers deep in books. What used to be the children’s 4-shelf toy cubby in the school room is now 2 and half shelves of books–mostly their story books and activity/school books. The irony of course is that I got two books for my birthday to add to the stack. Although I look forward to reading them, I sense it might be a ways down the pipeline.
So before you go buying Catholic books, see if we have them. We just might and you’re welcome to them. One of these days when I’m bored (yeah, right) I’ll make a list and post it as a borrowing library.
