Scarecrow

Remember how I don’t like the ‘bugs’ part of gardening. Well, I don’t like the little-critters-eating-my-spinach part of it either. The day after I saw one of my spinach plants was some squirrel’s afternoon snack, I took some of Fulton’s raggedly clothes and I made a scarecrow. Adam gets a good chuckle out of my crazy ways.

Now, if only the little cabbage loopers (worms) that are eating my lettuce were so easy to scare away. Even if they’re not, I’m satisfied I got a few good salads out of the garden.

The Joy of Victory

Remember way back with Purdue beat the Aggies?….The excitement was contagious.

Alas Purdue did end up losing to Duke.

Pioneer Farm Field Trip

I’m late in posting these, but better late than never!

So a few weeks ago, Pioneer Farm had its annual home school day. The week before Therese and I started reading “Little House in the Big Woods” by Laura Ingalls Wilder. It was the perfect book for our field trip. I also made a scavenger hunt for the kids and I promised them a little treat if they finished it.

St. Gianna’s Husband dies

St. Gianna’s husband, Pietro Molla, died on Holy Saturday last week at the age of 97.
You can read the entire story here.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and may Your perpetual light shine upon him.
May the divine assistance always remain with us and may the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

St. Gianna, pray for us.

Easter Joy

Happy Easter to you all!

The Gretencord family spent the Triduum with the Ceys in Houston and attended the Easter Vigil mass at their parish. I know, we were very daring taking all four kids to the longest (and late) service known to our faith. They did quite well as can be expected – Gianna passed out after the second reading, Therese was content to hold a candle despite suffering a small burn from the hot wax, and Fulton only bumped his head once on the pew.

If you know Fulton as well as we do, he is a ball of energy and joy. You can tell he was bottling it up as best as he could during the mass. As we were exiting the church he let out this loud shout and with the biggest smile gave the tightest hug to the priest standing at the door. A woman standing nearby just burst out laughing and said “He totally has made my Easter day!”

Thank you Fulton for showing us what true joy really is.
