Rest in Peace, Grandma

My beloved Grandmother, Mary Datzman, passed away earlier this morning after suffering many years with Alzheimer’s disease. She is once again reunited with her husband who died this past February and for the first time can witness all her great-grandchildren.

Grandma was always filled with kindness and joy. We all remember her for her homemade caramel corn and sugar cookies, but her unconditional love and desire to share her time with us is what remains in our hearts.

May the Lord grant you peace, Grandma. We love you.

I wish that I could have known her before she developed the Alzheimers. However, I hear a lot about her through Marc. He tells me all of his memories with her. Sorry to see her go, but I am glad that she is home with Jesus now, and your grandfather. May she rest in peace now. Love you all.

One beautiful criteria of many she kept was her innocence. She always had that sweetness and smile when we visited! I remember she and Grandpa took Sister Maria Kolbe and I to see Babe and then to McDonalds to get happy meals and ice cream!
A cute story was the time she, Sister and I were playing Old Maid in the living room and we heard her infamous rooster cookie jar go off. Grandpa was after the sweets! She yelled, “I know what you’re up to! Stay out of the cookies!.” We heard Grandpa say to the jar, “Quiet turkey!.” Grandma had to remind her husband, “It’s a rooster!” We then heard grumbling from the the kitchen.
We’ll miss Grandma dearly! She always had love to share and now it can be sent from Heaven! Much love to Mary Annette Datzman!

I remember all the card games (old maid) and wonderful stories grandma always told of her motorcycle adventures. Whenever I drink an RC or eat heavily sugared carmel popcorn I’m always taken back to grandmas house. And let’s not forget the rooster collection that grew as the years went on.
