Mike Chambers from Macromedia put forth the challenge and here’s my take on it, although it isn’t currently functional.
The short of it is, is that Bungie Studios, the creator of Halo 2 for the Xbox, has provided RSS feeds of individual player stats tracked and recorded through the Xbox Live playing experience. Although the data provided through the RSS is a drop in the bucket compared to what’s offered on Bungie.net, it has opened huge doors to explore the possibilities of building and customizing applications to enhance one’s own gaming experience. Web services would certainly be an interesting next step.
Although the deadline for the contest was originally later today, it seems I now have a couple more weeks to work on it, which is very fortunate.
Because Flash cannot talk directly to a data source directly outside it’s own domain, the proposed solution is to use a server-side proxy. However I am unable to even get what seems to be a rather simple solution working (PHP version). I’m not sure if it’s because of my Web host, the XMLConnector component, both or neither.
Either way, you’ll have to use your imagination for the time being. Please, offer whatever possible solution you may have.

Just a suggestion. I'm more of a halo fan than a flash developer. So this is kind of a "customer" request. Yah, fun, i know.
I, personally, would like the ability to filter out "aranged" and "custom" games from my total stats. Sometimes we'll just get in a game and screw around, but I wouldn't want those to be included in the totals.
Anyways, your app is really cool. Best one I've seen yet.
Thanks,
Brian
I'm unsure where to get my person RSS feed link from. Let me know, i think your app is badass.
Thanks

Annihil8or: You can find your RSS feed on Bungie.net. The details are under the Halo 2 Stats section of their Help page (http://www.bungie.net/Help/page.aspx?section=Pages&subsection=Main&Page=6). Look for RSS Feeds.

I have a simple php page setup for the proxy. Shoot me an email and I can give you some details. Either see if my script works or I can give your site access to my proxy page.
