Novena for Pope Benedict

Join the Knights of Columbus in praying this novena for the Holy Father. It begins today and end on the 5th anniversary of his election as pope.

PRAYER FOR POPE BENEDICT XVI
Lord, source of eternal life and truth,
give to your shepherd, Benedict, a spirit
of courage and right judgment, a spirit
of knowledge and love. By governing
with fidelity those entrusted to his care,
may he, as successor to the Apostle Peter
and Vicar of Christ, build your Church
into a sacrament of unity, love and peace
for all the world. Amen.
V/ Let us pray for Benedict, the pope.
R/ May the Lord preserve him,
give him a long life,
make him blessed upon the earth,
and not hand him over
to the power of his enemies.
V/ May your hand
be upon your holy servant.
R/ And upon your son,
whom you have anointed.
Our Father… Hail Mary… Glory Be…

Kinder Chocolate

The Easter Bunnies were good to us this year.  They were so good we’ve enjoyed treating the children to a different treat in their Easter baskets each day of this octave of Easter. Adam’s mom sent a bunch of candy to the kids. And our dear sweet God daughter, Lindsey, who’s living the hard life  ;) in Germany sent us some AMAZING chocolate. Maybe it’s only amazing because we don’t have it here (but actually I just learned they are made by the Italian company Ferrero). But I think it’s tasty none-the-less. It’s called Kinder Chocolate. And she also sent us these neat Kinder Eggs. The Kinder Egg is a chocolate egg that has a toy inside (and it’s banned in the US because it’s a choking hazard).

They were so much fun to eat and open. The children refer to these as their “German toys,” and they are just tickled!

Thanks Lindsey!

Easter Pictures

Thank you, Cey Family, for a wonderful start to our Easter season!

St. Gianna’s Husband dies

St. Gianna’s husband, Pietro Molla, died on Holy Saturday last week at the age of 97.
You can read the entire story here.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord and may Your perpetual light shine upon him.
May the divine assistance always remain with us and may the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

St. Gianna, pray for us.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

A little VeggieTales humor for you all. St. Patrick, pray for us!

RIP Fred McNair

This morning at Mass, we learned that a fellow parishioner, Fred McNair, passed away this weekend unexpectedly in Mexico City attending a conference. It is with great sadness that I share this news. Mr. McNair was very very active in our parish, with Relevant Radio and so many more thing we don’t even know. He was a daily communicant and that is where we know him best always praying for “an increase in God’s call to the priesthood and religious life and for all vocations.”

There is a certain intimacy that comes with sharing daily Mass. You see this little family daily, or at least frequently enough that you ‘know’ each other. And when one person in this family is gone, their physical presence is missed. We know he will be missed by many and we know through the Mass and communion of saints we are still united with our brother in Christ.

Evelyn, his wife, has asked us to pray for her and Fred’s father, and their children and grandchildren. Please also pray that they will be able to receive his body back from the Mexican government this week for his funeral.

Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord. And may your perpetual light shine upon him.
